I'll try to think of some other websites that I especially like for their design. Generally I prefer sites that a "clean," simple and not too cluttered. I like Google because of its spare design and dislike Yahoo because it's so cluttered.

Yes! Yahoo makes me feel claustrophobic. I had never consciously realized it, but all that clutter feels nightmarish to me! --ELC
I just started going through them, too. I especially like the Tinicum Memorial Library website at:

The color scheme of teal and purple really appeals to me, and the photographs and graphics are very good.
I also like pages that are less cluttered. The pages you linked to, the toy page and the book arts page are ones that I’ve been admiring too- they are colorful but still remain very clean looking. I also think my hobbies are somewhat random and wasn’t sure if I knew enough about one particular thing to make a site (I’m certainly not an expert on anything!) but decided to go with something that I personally find fun. I’m sure whatever you pick, your own interest and excitement for the topic will come through in your work.
Whoops! That rowdyroo comment is from me--Beth
I think my issue will also be too much information (both text and pictures) thereby creating a cluttered look. Looking at the previous class websites has already given me ideas about layout and color so hopefully I'll pick up something about keeping things pared down.
I have a feeling your website; will have a great look to it. I think knowing what you want it half the battle. Any ideas about your content. It’s a tough decision, isn’t it? -Durda
I am so with you when it comes to a love affair with blank space. Except for sometimes I find websites try to be TOO simple, and then I can't get anywhere that I want. For instance, let me take the layout of one of my favorite sites, del.icio.us. I really like that site, however, the simplicity of it does not allow me to really organize my bookmarks in categories the way that I would want them to. So, in this case, the simplicity works against me. However, if I look at something like 43things, their simplicity is great!
The discussion on space makes me think of a former colleague. I worked in publishing and a production staffer always used the phrase "creative use of white space" which can make a big difference.
I meant to add that I really like Lisa Jung's site as well (on becoming a law librarian). She was in a class with me last quarter and encouraged me to try this class.
Holly's book arts page is also one of my favorites from last term. While the chocolate-brown/turquoise/pink color scheme turned me off at first, the page is so well-structured and so rich with useful content that I quickly forgot about the colors.
I also love that clean, crisp fleur-de-lis logo.
